Self-Care: The Prophetic Approach
SUNDAYS | January 21 - February 25, 2018 | 11:30 am - 12:50 pm
Self-Care in Islam is an integral aspect of Islamic vision.
Islam calls for developing an integrated personality who is at peace with himself, his Creator, and the world. It considers man as the steward of the earth and its creatures – an onerous responsibility requiring full development of one’s physical, mental and spiritual faculties.
In this course, we hope to study the Islamic principles of self-care as taught by the Prophet (peace be upon him). It stresses on maintaining the sound health of mind, body, and soul - based on justice, compassion, and leading an active lifestyle balancing our duties towards ourselves and our fellow creatures.
In five sessions we will explore the various ways of organizing our daily life around the Prophetic principles of balance and harmony among the three faculties of body, mind, and soul. And thus design a practical program of daily living based on an active lifestyle that is at once authentic, creative, and stress-free.
It will enable us to welcome each day as an opportunity for growth and wisdom and thus equip us to look beyond the confines of the transient world to the next phase of existence with hope and yearning to meet our Lord.
